Fields and Post take the Win at Chula Vista

The opening round of the 2012 UCI BMX Supercross brought together the best BMX riders in the world to battle it out on the highly technical Chula Vists course in the widely regarded as the birthplace of the sport.

Connor Fields (USA) dominated all weekend taking the elite men’s main event yesterday, managing to hold off Sam Willoughby (AUS) in second place and David Herman taking home the bronze for USA. “In the first turn Maris left the door open and I just went through,” said Fields. “I was leading from that moment and I could not see or hear anything behind. I was concentrating on riding a smooth lap to the finish line. It is a great start to an important season, but there is a long way to go.”

Magalie Pottier (FRA) secured her first big Supercross victory with Laetitia Le Corguille (FRA) finishing second and making her debut on the World Cup podium Amanda Geving (USA) taking third. “Two years ago I finished second. Now it is my first victory in the World Cup. I am so happy! This Chula Vista track is my favourite” said Pottier.
